Champions Cup 2025 Notable Runners

Narukami

Narukami
Narukami

Narukami has rapidly emerged as a standout dirt horse among his generation. He debuted in November 2024 with a victory in a 2-year-old maiden over 1800m at Kyoto, showing early potential. In the following 2025 season, he continued to rise smoothly through the ranks and steadily built his record. His breakthrough came in the autumn when he captured the Jpn2 Kozukata Sho at Morioka, followed by a commanding victory in the Jpn1 Japan Dirt Classic at Oi on October 8th.

With six starts and five wins to his name, he has firmly established himself as one of the most promising dirt performers of his generation, combining early speed with strong stamina over 1800–2000m.

Luxor Cafe

Luxor Cafe has developed into one of the most progressive dirt horses of his generation. After debuting over 1700m at Sapporo in August 2024 and securing his maiden victory at Tokyo later that autumn, he continued to rise smoothly through the ranks in 2025. He captured the Kurotake Sho (1-Win Class), then added victories in the Listed Hyacinth Stakes and the Fukuryu Stakes (Open Class), earning enough recognition to travel to the United States for a bold challenge in the G1 Kentucky Derby.

Although the American classic did not produce the result his connections hoped for, the experience proved valuable for his development. Returning to Japan, he regained momentum in the autumn and claimed his first graded title in the G3 Musashino Stakes at Tokyo, defeating older horses with an impressive late kick. With five wins from nine starts, he now stands out as a major presence in Japan’s dirt mile division.

Double Heart Bond has matured into one of the most reliable dirt fillies of her generation. After debuting in August 2024 and winning her first race over 1800m at Chukyo, she continued to rise through the ranks during 2025, collecting consecutive victories in allowance and open-class company.

Her progress culminated in November 2025, when she captured the G3 Miyako Stakes at Kyoto with a commanding performance, setting a new JRA record time and defeating older rivals decisively. With six wins from seven starts, she has firmly established herself as a leading contender in Japan’s middle-distance dirt division.
