The Triple Crown award is earned by the winner of all three colt’s Classics in the JRA. The Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas), Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) and Kikuka Sho (Japanese St.Leger). Eight horses have accomplished the feat in JRA history: St Lite (1941), Shinzan (1964), Mr. C. B. (1983), Symboli Rudolf (1984), Narita Brian (1994), Deep Impact (2005), Orfevre (2011) and Contrail (2020).

The Japanese Triple Tiara is awarded to the three-year-old filly who wins all three fillies’ Classic races, the Oka Sho (1000 Guineas), Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks), and Shuka Sho. Strictly speaking, the Shuka Sho is not considered a Classic race but acts as the final leg of the highly coveted Fillies’ Triple Crown.

The JRA Hall of Fame was introduced as a part of the Japanese Racing Association’s 30th Anniversary Project (1984) to remember and celebrate the legacy of historic Japanese racehorses. To date, there have been 34 horses inducted in to the JRA Hall of Fame. Seven-time Group 1 winner, Kitasan Black, was the 34th and most recent addition to the revered collection of names.
