Mad Cool, who clinched his first G1 title at the Takamatsunomiya Kinen, completed his final domestic track work on the 17th ahead of the G1 Chairman's Sprint at Sha Tin. With jockey Ryusei Sakai aboard at Ritto's woodchip course, he recorded times of 84.0s for the last 6 furlongs, 36.8s for the last 3 furlongs, and 10.9s for the final furlong.

Despite being under a hold, he displayed impressive acceleration in the final stretch. Trainer Ikezoe commented, "We don't need fast times overall, (we are) just looking for the response in the closing stages. He might be moving too much, but that just shows how good his condition is." He aims to redeem himself after finishing 8th at last year's G1 Hong Kong Sprint.
