Sweep Feet, aiming for a comeback after finishing fourth in the G1 Oka Sho, faces a significant distance increase in the second leg of the Triple Tiara, moving to 2400 meters at Tokyo. However, there are no concerns regarding this change. Sired by Suave Richard, the 2019 G1 Japan Cup winner, and out of Bijou Tosho, a mare by Deep Sky, the 2008 Japanese Derby winner, and Sweep Tosho, the 2004 Japanese Oaks runner-up, Sweep Feet's pedigree is well-suited for this stage.

Rider and groom Shinji Kawashima, a former jockey, rides the horse during routine track work. Kawashima has a poignant connection to Sweep Feet's lineage, having ridden Osumi Haruka to a second-place finish behind Sweep Tosho in the 2005 G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Now, years later, he is working towards G1 success with the granddaughter of that "fated horse."

"Watching training videos and observing her daily behaviour, I noticed that she tends to be quite keen," Kawashima reveals. "So, I've focused on maintaining a gentle contact with the bit to guide her through training smoothly."

Sweep Feet demonstrated her impressive finishing speed with a decisive win in the G2 Tulip Sho. Although she was defeated in the Oka Sho, she proved her capability at the G1 level. "From the Tulip Sho to the Oka Sho, and now the Japanese Oaks, you can see from the training videos that we've maintained good contact with her," Kawashima explains. "The main goal is to keep her calm and manageable during the race. She is a horse that can remain composed and aware of her surroundings."

Kawashima is determined to achieve the G1 victory that eluded him with Osumi Haruka, now placing his hopes on Sweep Feet.
