Thunder Road, the first-crop offspring of 2020 G1 Kentucky Derby winner Authentic, is set to make his debut in the 2-year-old Newcomers race at Tokyo Racecourse on Saturday. Thunder Road's pedigree includes his sire Authentic, who triumphed in the 2020 G1 Haskell Invitational Stakes, G1 Kentucky Derby, and G1 Breeders' Cup Classic, earning him the title of American Horse of the Year. His dam, Guacamole, is by Flat Out, and his close relatives King of Capote and Honey Jade have both advanced to Open Class status.

Thunder Road has been training primarily on the uphill track, posting impressive times, including 52.7 seconds for 4 furlongs and 12.6 seconds for the final furlong in his penultimate workout. In his final workout, he comfortably clocked 54.1 seconds for 4 furlongs and 12.7 seconds for the last furlong, indicating he is in top form.

As the first progeny of Authentic to race in Japan, all eyes will be on Thunder Road to see if he can secure a debut victory and make his sire proud.
