Taiga Tsunoda positioned Season Rich a few horses behind the leader and drew away from his rivals in the home straight to win the G3 Mainichi Hai.Season Rich fought off a late challenge from Nocking Point to score by a half-length. The winning time was 1:46.6. Saturday's victory marked a first graded win for both Tsunoda and Season Rich.

In the post-race interview, Tsunoda said: "I'm glad I was able to seize the opportunity. He doesn't take long to reach his top speed and has stamina as well. The race went as I planned."

On his future career, he added: "There are many young jockeys behind me and I cannot afford to lose sight of my aims so I will keep working hard as a young second-year jockey."
