A record eight Japanese horses lined-up for the main event of the night, The G1 Dubai World Cup. With Japanese fans still celebrating the national baseball team winning the World Cup, Ushba Tesoro provided another world title for the land of the rising sun to celebrate.

Sitting in last place at the three-furlong marker, Ushba Tesoro with a dirt covered Yuga 'King' Kawada onboard angled towards to the centre of the home straight. Conjuring a lung-bursting run, Ushba Tesoro and Kawada made relentless progress towards the leaders. The Noburu Takagi-trained six-year-old passed the line a comprehensive 2.75L winner.

Kawada commented after the famous victory "He arrived in outstanding condition, I only had to focus on achieving the best result." It was a third international Grade 1 for the reigning Champion JRA Jockey. "I was aware that this was a big ride on the international stage. I'm so proud that I was able to show how Japanese jockeys can compete against top-class riders from around the world." Trainer Noburu Takagi exclaimed "It was the best feeling when he crossed the line!"

It was a fifth consecutive race win for Ushba Tesoro, his curriculum vitae already included the G1 Tokyo Daishoten and JPN1 Kawasaki Kinen. He is the second Japanese winner of the Dubai World Cup, Victoire Pisa won the 2000 metre dirt spectacle in 2011.

Connections of Ushba Tesoro, to somewhat of a surprise to the racing public, have declared they intend to run their World Champion in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The son of Orfevre (twice placed in the Arc) is a three-time winner on turf in the JRA.
