The favourite, Do Deuce, responded brilliantly to Yutaka Take's urgings, producing a dazzling late surge from the rear to claim his fifth G1 title in the Japan Cup. In a thrilling finish, it was a three-way battle at the wire with Shin Emperor on the inside and Durezza in the middle. Do Deuce sealed victory with an electrifying final three furlongs in 32.7 seconds, the fastest of the field. Shin Emperor and Durezza shared second place in a dead heat.

A relieved Yutaka Take commented, "I'm so glad. There were a lot of expectations, and I really wanted to deliver. The pace was far too slow, and it was a challenge to hold him back when he wanted to run full out. I worried it might be too early to move, but I trusted this horse could sustain it, and he proved me right."

Having missed last year's race due to injury, Take reflected, "More than my own feelings, this being Do Deuce's final season made me determined to win a title with him. I'm delighted he showed his best performance today."

Do Deuce is now expected to contest the Arima Kinen on December 22 at Nakayama Racecourse. "If all goes well, the plan is to run in the Arima Kinen. I hope we can finish his career on the highest note," Take added with renewed focus.
