February Stakes winner Peptide Nile showed he is primed for success in the G1 Champions Cup with a strong workout on November 27. Under jockey Yusuke Fujioka, the 6-year-old clocked 4F in 56.2 seconds, finishing with splits of 40.0 seconds and a sharp 11.9 seconds, accelerating smoothly and powering up the Ritto Training Center slope course.
Working alongside Hawkfield, Peptide Nile finished evenly but with a clear edge in hand. Fujioka commented, "We focused on finishing strongly, and it was a great piece of work. He's clearly improved since his last run." Trainer Hideaki Take echoed the sentiment, stating, "It was a perfect workout. There isn't a single concern about his condition."
Peptide Nile's victory in the February Stakes came as an 11th favourite, but his subsequent third in the Kashiwa Kinen and second in the Nambu Hai confirmed his G1 credentials were no fluke. Trainer Take emphasized his maturity, saying, "At six, he's finally come into his own. He's grown stronger both physically and mentally, showing the benefits of his late-blooming pedigree."
The Champions Cup has attracted a formidable lineup, including reigning champion Lemon Pop, but Peptide Nile has earned his place among the elites. Trainer Take remains optimistic, "This is a competitive field, but it might actually work to Peptide Nile's advantage. He'll find it easier to race against these types. And as for Chukyo Racecourse, we have no concerns."
With his sights set on unifying the dirt racing world, Peptide Nile appears poised to take another step toward G1 greatness.
