Making his first start in seven months since winning the NHK Mile Cup, Jantar Mantar turned in an impressive final track work under Yuga Kawada on the Sha Tin Racecourse turf. When urged in the stretch, he instantly shifted gears, producing a sharp move to clock 4F in 48.6 seconds and 2F in 22.0 seconds. Kawada shared his positive impressions, "Since it's his first race in a while, I asked for a slightly stronger finish to sharpen him up. It served as good stimulation, and I believe he'll head into the race in excellent condition."
A force to be reckoned with over the mile distance, boasting three starts, two G1 wins, and a G2 victory, Jantar Mantar faces new challenges this time, competing against older horses for the first time and making his debut on foreign soil. Despite these hurdles, Kawada expressed confidence, "I had heard about his high adaptability, and he's proven it. Even in the unfamiliar surroundings, he's been calm and composed in the paddock. His mental state has been excellent throughout the work."
Now fully prepared, Jantar Mantar aims to secure his third G1 title in the G1 Hong Kong Mile, stepping onto the global stage to prove his dominance over the distance.
