Nitamonodoshi

The second juvenile G1 race of the season is the G1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes, which has been won by horses that have raced just twice in the last three consecutive years: Do Deuce in 2021, Dolce More in 2022 and Jantar Mantar in 2023. Four of this year's runners fit that description.

Nitamonodoshi won the Listed Clover Sho in Sapporo in August with a record-breaking victory, after winning the debut in Fukushima in June. He easily overcame the extended distance to win two consecutive races without fault. Trainer Takagi said, "I thought he would be busy in the 1200m, so we switched him to the1500m. His body had changed after one race, and he came out of the gate quickly, so he was able to go with the flow of the race."

He was then put out to pasture to aid his growth, and he has been adjusted to focus on the G1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes. The trainer also commented "If he is training, he will be ready to race soon, so I have to be careful with that. He's progressing well so far." With the same determination as his sire Dee Majesty, he has his sights set on the top.
