Croix du Nord

Croix du Nord, in his bid to become the undefeated juvenile champion. This talented son of Kitasan Black will attempt to show his class at Nakayama.

An easy winner on his debut against a reputedly well-bred horse. However, the following race, the G3 Tokyo Sports Hai Nisai Stakes, was run with some trepidation. Yuichi Kitamura, who was riding after the race, was reluctant to comment, "He hasn't been able to react since he came back." Takashi Saito, the horse's trainer, commented, "He's getting better. He was stronger than before the debut race. But when it came down to it, the ability was not the same. He was able to overtake the runner-up, who was stubbornly holding on to the lead.

In the lead-up, he worked out on the Ritto woodchip track, the horse was well ahead of his two stable mates. Jockey Kitamura said, "He is more willing to move than last time. He had a lot of space in the straight. He is a horse that moves well." The pasture must have had a positive effect. Trainer Saito also commented, "He takes his own time and moves well. Last time he didn't move at all, so I wondered if he would be OK. But this time he will be ready to run."

The only problem is that it will be his first time at Nakayama, but the jockey said, "I have no problem going around on the right, and I think the change from Tokyo to Nakayama will depend on how I guide him. In the last race, I felt he was worrying unnecessarily in the warm-up. He was still capable of a race like that. I felt he had a lot of hidden ability." he said, confident of his high potential.

The combination of Sunday Racing, trainer Takashi Saito and jockey Yuichi Kitamura is reminiscent of three-time Grand Prix winner Chrono Genesis, and winning the final G1 of 2024 will give him a boost for next spring.
