Second favorite Costa Nova scored a dominant victory in the G3 Negishi Stakes, claiming his first graded stakes title. Third favorite Lord Fons finished second, while seventh favorite Alpha Mom took third. The race favorite, Hrimfaxi, ended up in sixth place.

At the start, Tagano Beauty stumbled, causing his jockey to fall in an unfortunate incident. Meanwhile, Costa Nova settled in mid-pack and tracked the pace. "I was able to secure an ideal position," recalled jockey Takeshi Yokoyama. As the race unfolded smoothly, he unleashed a powerful turn of foot in the final stretch.

Winning by an impressive four-length margin, the jockey, who was riding Costa Nova for the first time, smiled and said, "He turned out to be an even better horse than I had expected." He added, "I just focused on bringing out his full ability." With this victory, Costa Nova has secured a priority entry for the G1 February Stakes (February 23, Tokyo Racecourse), marking the rise of a new dirt star.
