A Shin Fencer (5yo, mare), the 9th favourite, surged down the outside in the stretch to capture her first graded stakes victory in the G3 Silk Road Stakes. For jockey Kenji Kawamata, this marked his first JRA-graded stakes win in his ninth year since debuting in 2017. Grand Est, the 10th favourite, finished second, while Win Carnelian, the 4th favourite, took third. The trifecta payout was a high 325,810 yen.

The race saw a series of incidents, with Sonshi being scratched after suffering an injury upon entering the track and Scent Memories breaking through the barrier before the start. Puro Magic set a strong pace after a quick break, but A Shin Fencer, settling in mid-pack, powered past in the stretch to claim victory.

Jockey Kawamata expressed his gratitude, saying, "I'm just filled with appreciation. I've been riding (A Shin) Fencer since 1 Win Class, and I want to thank the owner, trainer, and stable staff. Most of all, I want to say thank you to the horse for giving her all." Reflecting on the race, he added, "Fencer is good at both the break and racing itself, so I just let her find her best position. I was worried about horses coming from behind, but she was strong."

Coming off a victory in the Carbuncle Stakes, A Shin Fencer delivered in her graded stakes debut. "I had high hopes for Fencer and believed she could win a graded stakes race. Now that we've made it happen, I want to continue this journey together," said Kawamata with determination.
