The JRA announced the latest updates on four Japanese horses who will be running a Hong Kong Champions Day at Sha Tin Racecourse on April 30th.
Queen Elizabeth II Cup
Geraldina, the five-year-old mare from the stable of Takashi Saito, cantered on the all-weather course after working on the uphill dirt track. Jockey Taisei Danno rode her for the exercise and commented on her condition, "She was in better condition than when I rode her in Japan and, overall, I think she's doing well. We entered the all-weather track from the long stretch and she was in good form. I've only ridden her in her final workout in Japan, so this was my first time cantering her, but I felt she moved well and was in good shape."
Danon The Kid, the five-year-old colt from the stable of Takayuki Yasuda, also cantered on the all-weather course after working on the uphill dirt track. Assistant trainer Akihisa Ueno rode him on the uphill dirt track. Jockey C. Ho, who will team up with Danon the Kid in the race commented, "He was very relaxed and ran with a good stride. All his movements were smooth, and he was calm, which was good."
Prognosis, the five-year-old colt from Mitsumasa Nakauchida's stable, cantered one-and-a-half rounds on the all-weather course after working on the uphill dirt track. Assistant trainer Yasunari Kiyoyama rode him and said: "He had a good canter, using his body well. He's coming along fine."
Chairman's Sprint Prize
Aguri, the four-year-old colt from Takayuki Yasuda's stable, was another who cantered on the all-weather course after working on the uphill dirt track. Assistant trainer Keiichiro Yasuda rode him in the exercise, and commented, "As we have a workout scheduled for tomorrow, I rode him to loosen up his body and make sure he doesn't overwork. He came along without any issues, and I think he's ready for tomorrow's workout."
