Champagne Color went three-from-three on Sunday on the Tokyo mile course, and stamped himself as the Champion Three-Year-Old Miler. Umbrail came home in second after making a late challenge from the outside, whilst Obamburumai finished third.

It was a first G1 title in five years for jockey Hiroyuki Uchida, who commented, "There are fewer and fewer opportunities for me to ride in Group 1s, but with the ride in the 2023 February Stakes I was able to get used to the atmosphere of Group 1 races." On Champagne Color, he reflected, "He was travelling nicely at the last turn so I made sure that I was patient enough to wait for the best time to push."

He reflected on his long career, he said: "I am really grateful for the connections, trainers and all the horses that took me to this place."
