Gentildonna, the 16-year-old mare who won seven G1 races both domestically and internationally, including the Japanese Triple Tiara, has officially retired from broodmare duty, it was announced on July 15. Shunsuke Yoshida, Vice President of Northern Farm, confirmed, "She has retired from being a broodmare. She's now enjoying a peaceful life as an honoured horse in our pastures. She's doing well. She was a great racehorse and produced a G1 winner as well, she's truly an incredible mare."

Trained by Sei Ishizaka at Ritto Training Center, Gentildonna made her debut in 2011 and went on to become the fourth filly in history to capture the Japanese Triple Tiara in 2012. She was the first horse ever to win back-to-back G1 Japan Cups, also claiming the 2014 G1 Dubai Sheema Classic and the prestigious G1 Arima Kinen. She was named Japanese Horse of the Year in both 2012 and 2014.

As a broodmare, Gentildonna produced Geraldina (by Maurice), her third foal, who won the 2022 G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, marking her first G1 winner as a dam. Gentildonna still has promising prospects, with a 2-year-old filly by Drefong and a yearling filly by Epiphaneia yet to debut.
