On October 5, at ParisLongchamp Racecourse in France, the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe was won by 10th favourite Daryz (Colt, 3yo, FRA), ridden by Mickael Barzalona. Settling just off the pace through the early stages, Daryz moved to the outside in the stretch and surged past 2nd favourite Minnie Hawk (Filly, 3yo, IRE), who had taken the lead earlier, to claim victory in the closing strides. The winning time was 2:29.17.

Minnie Hawk held on for a narrow 2nd, while 5th favourite Sosie (Colt, 4yo, FRA) finished a few lengths behind in 3rd.

Among the Japanese contenders, the highest finisher was the 4th favourite Byzantine Dream (Colt, 4yo), who closed from the rear to take 5th. 3rd favourite Croix du Nord (Colt, 3yo) raced prominently in 2nd early, took the lead turning for home, but faded to 14th. 6th favourite Alohi Alii (Colt, 3yo) raced mid-pack but lacked the finishing kick and finished 16th.

The winner, Daryz, is by Sea The Stars out of Daryakana, by Selkirk. After finishing 2nd to Croix du Nord in the G2 Prix du Prince d'Orange in his prep race, Daryz turned the tables when it mattered most, impressively capturing his first G1 title and Europe's biggest end-of-season crown.
