Leading Australian racing media on June 12th reported that three-time G1 winner Hitotsu will be retired to Arrowfield Stud to stand alongside his own sire, Maurice. His first year stud fee will be 22,000 AUD.

Hitotsu is a son of Maurice (Screen Hero) out of Love is Fickle by Redoute's Choice. Hitotsu is the most successful progeny of Maurice in Australia.

Hitotsu won his first G1 title in the 2021 Victoria Derby and went on to claim the Australia Guineas and Australian Derby in 2022. Connections had been keen to run in the Japan Cup but an injury forced the early retirement of this exciting breeding prospect.

John Messara, the Chairman and the owner of the Arrowfield Stud commented on the delays of the announcement "The condition of Hitotsu was not good so we just took our time with him"

At the end of the interview, The Arrowfield chief also mentioned the quality of Japanese bloodstock "Japanese top horses are as good as top prospects from any other country and sometimes even better."
