Double Derby winner Auguste Rodin disappoints in G1 King George

The G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes took place at Ascot Racecourse in the UK on Saturday July 30th.

In a pulsating battle to the line, six-year-old colt Hukum emerged victorious under a power packed ride from Jim Crowley. Four-year-old colt, Westover, failed by just a head. The winning time was 2 min and 33.95 sec.

Meanwhile, the hotly fancied three-year-old colt, Auguste Rodin, struggled to play a significant role in the finish. He was eased in the straight and was dismounted shortly after the crossing the line, finishing last of the ten runners.

Auguste Rodin's victories in the G1 UK Derby and the G1 Irish Derby marked an exceptional achievement for the offspring of Deep Impact. The final generation of the Japanese super sire. Deep Impact has produced a Classic winner from all his 13 crops.
