Matsurida Gogh pensioned from stallion duties

Today, Lex Stud announced that their stalwart stallion, 20-year-old Matsurida Gogh, has been retired from active stud duties.

Matsurida Gogh won the 2500m G1 Arima Kinen (The Grand Prix) in 2007. As a stallion, he produced five JRA Graded winners, including three-time Graded winner Lord Quest, who won the G2 Swan Stakes 1,200m turf in 2018.

He is from the final crop of Sunday Silence and was bred at Okada Stud in Shinhidaka-cho in 2003.

He retired to stud as a 10-time winner including two seconds and one third-placed effort from 27 starts. (Including one overseas race). He entered the stallion ranks at Lex Stud in 2010. In 2013, he covered a book of 135 broodmares.

Matsurida Gogh will now return to his birthplace, Okada stud, to enjoy his retirement.
