On 18th of September, it was announced that Obamburumai, was placed in the G1 NHK Mile Cup 1,600m turf, will contest The Golden Eagle, 1500m turf. Japanese riding sensation, Yutaka Take will take the ride. The race will go to post on November 4th at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney.

The race is restricted to three-year-olds only with a prize money of AUD 5.25 million. Keiji Yoshimura said: "He can only run this year and it's a better option than race against older horses in Japan. Japanese horses have run well at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in the past, so we don't mind the clockwise and heavy track.

The horse returned to the Ritto Training Center on September 17th after a spell, Yoshimura continued; "I feel he has grown."
