It was a freak show by Equinox and Christophe Lemaire in the G1 Tenno Sho (Autumn) at Tokyo Racecourse on Sunday, as the pair set the new JRA record and possibly the world record for 2000m in a time of 1:55.2. Justin Palace finished second and Prognosis came home in third.
After enjoying a second consecutive weekend scoring a G1 win, Lemaire commented, "I am glad to win for the fans of Equinox around the world. I was able to show off why he is the number one in the world and I think people wanted to see that today." On the record time setting run, he added, "When I saw a big screen, I could not believe it. Tenno Sho is an important race for me and happy to win in a style with a perfect horse who has got everything."
