The G1 Japan Cup is upon us. Here are the main contenders in the Japan Cup to get you ready for this Sunday's racing action.

Equinox has won five consecutive G1 titles after winning the Tenno Sho (Autumn) in a track record time of 1:55.2. He will aim to become the third horse to win six consecutive G1 titles, and Christophe Lemaire will be in the saddle.

Triple Tiara winner Liberty Island will battle against older colts for the first time in her career. She will carry the lightest weight among the runners with 54kg, and Yuga Kawada will guide her in the Japan Cup.

Last year's Japanese Derby winner Do Deuce will aim to bounce back after finishing seventh in the Tenno Sho (Autumn). Yutaka Take will not be riding him after he sustained an injury and instead he will be partnered by Keita Tosaki.

Other main contenders include Stars on Earth, G1 Takarazuka Kinen winner Titleholder, last year's Japan Cup winner Vela Azul, and Iresine from France.
