We interviewed connections of the Triple Tiara winner Liberty Island, trainer Mitsumasa Nakauchida and jockey Yuga Kawada, ahead of this weekend's G1 Japan Cup.
Interviewer - "Good morning Mr. Nakauchida. What is your take on Liberty Island winning the Triple Tiara?"
Nakauchida - "Everyone did the right thing, including Liberty Island. That horse is amazing."
Interviewer - "It has been five weeks since the G1 Shuka Sho. What do you think of this schedule?"
Nakauchida - "We sent her out to pasture at the farm for 10 days and she was able to recover mentally and physically. She has been very keen to run since the last race but we were able to control that and she's train effectively."
Interviewer - "What did you think of the final workout?"
Nakauchida - "She was moving well with Yuga Kawada on board."
Interviewer - "What do you think of this field in the Japan Cup?"
Nakauchida - "I am nervous but very much looking forward to it. This is her first time running against older horses, so we are the challenger."
Interviewer - "Good morning Mr. Kawada. What did you think of the final workout?"
Kawada - "We planned to put moderate pressure on her and we executed accordingly. I could feel the physical improvements within her."
Interviewer - "Do you feel the anticipation for this race from the fans and media?"
Kawada - "Of course. There is Equinox and we, Liberty Island, will challenge him. This is great for the racing. I will do my job and will try my best."
