Nicknamed the "Fugitive of Reiwa", Panthalassa who won two G1 races, the Dubai Turf last year and the Saudi Cup in February this year, has been retired from racing. After finishing 10th in the Dubai World Cup in March, he was out of action due to a minor injury, but returned to domestic racing for the first time since last year's Tenno Sho Autumn. He finished 12th in the Japan Cup but ran with his normal gusto from the front that has endeared him so greatly to racing fans. His final career earning amount to 1,844,466,200 yen, the fourth highest of all time.

After finishing 10th in the Dubai World Cup in March, he was out of action due to desmitis, but returned to domestic race for the first time since last year's Tennou-sho Autumn in the Japan Cup on last week. Although he finished 12th in the race, he made the race exciting with a great run, which is synonymous with him. The total prize money was 1,844,466,200 yen, the fourth largest of all time.

"He has no problems after the race, but from the beginning of the year I thought he would retire at the end of the season." Trainer Yahagi said, explaining the reason for his decision to retire. "Panthalassa has been a learning experience for me. He is from the same generation as Contrail, and although he had completely different qualities, but I never expected him to become such a great horse.... I never imagined it, just shows that you can never really know! There were so many fans of his, I just wanted to create a unique horse for myself and the fans. However, I cannot take all the responsibility, it is not something I can breed even if I wanted to. I think that was his genius. He was a horse that will stay in your heart. When I think of him retiring, I feel a strong sense of sadness," he said in parting.

He will begin stallion career at Arrow Stud in Shin-Hidaka town, Hokkaido. His retirement ceremony is in the process of being organized.
