Titleholder has been retired from racing after his final run in the G1 Arima Kinen. A retirement ceremony was held at Nakayama Racecourse. Thousands of fans and his connections were on hand to with love and sadness of him leaving the hallowed JRA turf for his new career in the breeding shed.
Titleholder is a son of Duramente out of Mowen by Motivator. He will play an important role as the next generation of the deceased Duramente.
He was purchased at the 2018 Select Sale Yearling Session for 21,600,000 JPY, a miniscule percentage of the prize money he has earned throughout his career which was 1,068,751,000 JPY. There are few other horses provided such a return on investment relative to sale price.
Just a Way was bought for 12,600,000 JPY at the Select Sale and won both domestic and international G1 which earned him 994,000,000 JPY. For horses under the price of 10,000,000 JPY, Hishi Miracle was purchased for 6,280,000 JPY and earned 514,980,000JPY.
Meikei Yell falls into the same price range as Titleholder and earned 343,050,000 JPY with six graded stakes titles.
