Richard Kingscote, who is current in Japan riding in the JRA on a short-term licence, won his first race on Sunday with Come Fly. This is his first time riding in Japan with a short-term licence, the licence will expire on the 29th of February.

On his first winner in Japan, he commented "I have been struggling to win a race the past three weeks despite the support from owners, trainers, and breeders. I love the quality of horses here in Japan and it reminded me of the joy of riding in the quality races. I have always been a fan of Japanese racing and I personally think it is the best in the world. After I won the English Derby with Desert Crown, I decided to apply for a JRA short-term licence."

On the differences and difficulties of riding in Japan, he added "Racedays are completely different from the European style that I'm used to. There are 12 races and almost all races have 18 runners which is massive compared to the field we have in Europe. Close finishes are always expected and nobody can predict what is going to happen in the race. I am learning and gaining so much experience on this trip. Thank you for your continued support."
