Equinox crowned world's best racehorse by IFHA

The International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) has announced the 2023 Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings and Equinox has been crowned as the best racehorse in the world with a rating of 135. He became the second Japanese horse to handed the title, joining Just a Way who won in 2014. His run in the G1 Japan Cup against Liberty Island confirmed him as the best racehorse.

288 horses with a rating of over 115 and 56 Japanese horses came in the rankings. Do Deuce and Titleholder came in 10th with a rating of 124 and Ushba Tesoro was ranked 19th with 122. Justin Palace, Liberty Island and Shahryar came in 24th with a rating of 112 and Liberty Island was the highest-ranked filly alongside Emily Upjohn from England.

The total of 56 was also the most Japanese horses to have ever made the rankings, and Japan in second by that measure, after the USA.
