Matenro Sky wins a first graded stakes title in G2 Nakayama Kinen

Matenro Sky with Norihiro Yokoyama on board won the G2 Nakayama Kinen at Nakayama Racecourse on Sunday. Dobune finished second, two lengths behind the winner, and Geoglyph came home in third, a neck behind Dobune. Sent-off favourite, Sol Oriens finished fourth. The winning time was 1:48.1.

Matenro Sky is a son of Maurice out of Red la Vita, by Special Week. This is his first graded stakes title and with it he clinches a spot in the G1 Osaka Hai. Winning jockey Norihiro Yokoyama extended his own record as the oldest JRA jockey to win a graded stakes.
