The G1 Oka Sho, conducted by the Japan Racing Association (JRA), is a prestigious Grade 1 horse race exclusively for 3-year-old fillies. Modeled after the English 1000 Guineas, it was established in 1939 to identify the most talented and speedy young fillies. Since 1950, the race has been held at Hanshin Racecourse. In the current racing system, along with the Japanese Oaks and the Shuka Sho, it forms part of the "Filly Triple Tiara."
Hanshin 1600m turf course : The race utilizes the outer track. Starting from a slightly leftward position on the middle of the straightaway, the distance to the third corner is 444 meters. The corners are very gentle, featuring a gradual downhill slope. The final home stretch measures 473.6 meters (when using the A course), with a sharp incline of 1.8 meters in elevation between the 200- meter and 80-meter marks. Compared to the inner track, the pace tends to be more subdued, often leading to a contest of quick acceleration and burst of speed.
