Emperor Wakea won the G3 Musashino Stakes in the previous race. He was also last year's winner of the G3 Negishi Stakes. He has won seven of his ten races, finished second twice and only missed once.
He is good at getting ahead from a good start and has solid final stretch. Amongst the Lord Kanaloa offsprings, Panthalassa won the G1 Saudi Cup the year before last, and this horse also has a high dirt aptitude.

His last race, the G3 Negishi Stakes, was a convincing four-length victory over the runner-up. Although he is sometimes slow to start, he has a strong stretch in the final straight.

February Stakes is a horse racing competition held at Tokyo Racecourse by the Japan Racing Association (JRA). It is classified as an international G1 race.

Racecourse Feature

Tokyo 1600m dirt course : The turf portion of the second corner pocket serves as the starting point. Although the distance to the third turn is around 640 meters, the pace tends to be faster due to a gradual uphill stretch of about 400 meters from the start. The straightaway measures 501.6 meters, making it the longest among Japan's dirt tracks.
