On the 7th, Maruka Blitz won Race 8 at Fukushima Racecourse, giving former leading jockey Yuichi Fukunaga his first JRA victory as a trainer. This victory came in his stable's 13th runner since opening in March of this year, following four second-place finishes. Trainer Fukunaga expressed his gratitude saying, "I'm very happy to win with horses from people I have connections with. Former trainer Mr. Matsunaga took great care of them. The horse did its best, and Daito Ozawa rode brilliantly."
Race 10 at Hanshin Racecourse on the same day, sent-off favorite Edel Blume completed a first across the card double for Fukunaga, earning large ovations from the fans. Trainer Fukunaga celebrated the win in the winner's circle for the first time, and joked, "I almost climbed up to the jockey's spot by mistake," with a smile. Looking ahead, he reflected, "As a jockey, you ride horses that are already made. I've realized that bringing them to the races isn't easy. I want to enhance my skills and management abilities to deliver horses that please both owners and fans."
