Serifos won the Mile Championship in 2022 and finished 2nd in last year's Yasuda Kinen. Although his latest two starts have been disappointing, Serifos is still the best horse entered in the G2 Milers Cup in the in terms of previous form. He is the only G1 horse in the field, and he will be aiming to stamp his authority on the race.

This will be his second time at the newly renovated Kyoto Racecourse. In the Mile Championship last fall, he showed signs of wanting to get an early lead in the race but ultimately ran out of steam towards the finish. He failed to show the sharpness that is required for the race and finished in a disappointing eighth. However, it was revealed the reason for his defeat was not due to the course conditions.

Assistant Fukunaga said, "He was suffering from the summer heat, and his physical condition was not good, so he had to go straight to the Mile Championship ". The Hong Kong Mile, in which he finished seventh, was also a high-level race, featuring some top runners from Hong Kong and Japan, but it cannot be said that he was simply outclassed, as he didn't adapt well to the change in environment.

He returned to the Ritto Training Center on March 22nd with this race his intended goal, and he is off to a good start. In his first pre-training session, he showed a spirited performance from the beginning of the session. He showed no signs of fatigue from his overseas trip and showed impressive instant power. The son of Daiwa Major has not won in four starts but will be hotly fancied to claim his long-awaited return to the winner's enclosure this weekend.
