Six-year-old mare Ten Happy Rose burst through in the stretch to claim her first Grade 1 victory in the Victoria Mile, giving jockey Akihide Tsumura his first win at this level as well. Fierce Pride finished second, followed by Masked Diva in third. The win paid a whopping 20,860 JPY on a single win bet, with the trifecta returning 916,640 JPY.

Making her Grade 1 debut, Ten Happy Rose caused a major upset. Tsumura, celebrating with a vigorous fist pump as he crossed the finish line, achieved his long-awaited first Grade 1 triumph. During the post-race interview, an emotional Tsumura said, "I was completely in the zone, just pushing as hard as I could." Savouring the victory, he added: "She wasn't the favourite for the race, but I always believed she had a chance, especially going left-handed. We managed to get the perfect position around the final corner."

It was a breakthrough after 21 years since the jockey's debut ride in 2004. "It's been a long journey. There were times I thought I might never win, but I never gave up. I've worked my way up from smaller races year after year aiming for a chance at a Grade 1," he shared joyfully. When asked about his support, Tsumura immediately mentioned his family, saying, "Definitely my family. My wife and two sons have always supported me," though he humorously added that they were likely at a soccer match and might have missed watching his stellar performance live.
