On the 20th, Shinichi Ishigami claimed victory in the 9th race at Fukushima with the fourth favorite, Like a Flower. It marked his long-awaited first win on the flat after approximately 10 years and 10 months, since his last flat win on June 9, 2013, in Tokyo aboard Derma Hannya. This victory brought his total flat wins to 78 (with 124 wins in jumps).

Ishigami is most widely known for his association with Oju Chosan over jumps. The JRA Award-winning steeplechase horse for 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022 had secured two victories on flat ground. On both of those occasions, he was ridden by jockey Yutaka Take.

Shinichi Ishigami commented, "Considering the previous race where we were slow out of the gate, I concentrating in finding a positive position. After observing the track conditions in the last race, I was aware that the inside turf was holding. We managed to break through the pack, and the horse showed great determination. Looking forward, I'm excited as we'll be competing under similar conditions next time, so naturally, I expect more enjoyment and success."
