Amante Bianco becomes first white horse to win Jpn1 dirt race in Haneda Hai

In an historic race, the favourite, Amante Bianco, achieved a remarkable victory in the Haneda Hai at Oi Racecourse, becoming the first white horse to win a Jpn1 race. This win marks his first victory in a graded stakes race, clearing the first hurdle of the Dirt 3-Year-Old Classics. In second place was the lone filly, Ammothyella, who showed resilience in leading the field, while the third-place finisher, Hraunfossar, rallied from the back of the pack, finishing 8 lengths behind. It's worth noting that the top three NAR-affiliated horses, including Funaichi Flossal, have been granted priority entry rights to the Jpn1 Tokyo Derby.

Amante Bianco's victory marks the first Jpn1 triumph by a white horse on dirt, a significant achievement following the white wonder Sodashi's three Grade 1 victories on turf, including the 2020 G1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. This win represents a new era in the revamped Dirt Classics in Japan. The victory was brilliantly sealed at Oi Racecourse, where his dam, Yukichan, also displayed her talents with one victory in Jpn2 and two in Jpn3 races. With Christophe Lemaire sidelined due to an injury sustained in Dubai, Yuga Kawada, taking the reins in his place, commented, "Last time, there was a stumble at the start, so I paid extra attention to that. After that, I focused on maintaining our rhythm and progressing smoothly." He calmly savoured the aftermath of victory.

Since his victory in the Tokyo Daishoten at the end of last year, marking his 11th Jpn1 win, jockey Yuga Kawada expressed satisfaction, saying, "There was a sense that we could catch up before the finish line, so I didn't push too hard and aimed to close in steadily. It's great to secure the first leg of the new Dirt Triple Crown." Trainer Miyata, claiming his second Jpn1 title since the 2022 JBC Sprint in Morioka, echoed the sentiment, stating, "He's a horse that attracts attention from the fans, so I'm glad we could deliver the result. It's truly gratifying to etch our name into a new chapter of history."
