Yutaka Take

Yutaka Take, the jockey with the most Derby wins in his career (six), attended the "91st Japanese Derby PR Presentation" with the JRA's annual promotional talent Kuranosuke Sasaki and Ai Mikami on May 20th.

During the questions and answers session with fans, Take was asked, "How long are you going to keep trying?", and immediately replied, "That's forever". Take is a veteran of 38 years, but he said "I never get tired of it, and I really enjoy it. I hope it goes on forever," he told his fans that he would be an active jockey for the rest of his life. Sasaki, who is in the same age group as Take, was impressed by his efforts, saying, "It's amazing that he can be so natural despite all the hard work he has to put in.

When asked if he had a pre-race routine, Take laughed and said, "I don't have one at all. I try to do something, but I've never followed any specific routine. I want to start something for times when I am asked a question like this," drawing laughter from the audience.

This year, he will ride Sugar Kun, half-brother of Kitasan Black and winner of the Aoba Sho, for his bid for a seventh victory in the Japanese Derby.
