Serifos (C)netkeiba

Although Serifos had a lacklustre second half to last year, his performance in his comeback race showed promising signs as he heads into the G1 Yasuda Kinen. His sharp finishing kick remains, and he aims to secure his first G1 victory since winning the G1 Mile Championship two years ago. The main contenders for the race are as follows:

In his previous race, the G2 Milers Cup, Serifos weighed-in at his highest-ever weight of 498 kg. Despite showing signs of needing the run after a lengthy break, he finished second. Considering the weight difference with the winner, Soul Rush, his performance was impressive, reaffirming his top-class ability. Serifos has a consistent record in the Yasuda Kinen, finishing fourth and second in the past two years. With the retirement of last year's winner, Songline, this could be his best chance yet. Yuga Kawada will be his jockey.

Soul Rush, like Serifos, was making his first start since the G1 Hong Kong Mile last December. Despite carrying 1 kg less than Serifos, he delivered a powerful finish from the outside to defeat strong rivals. At six years old, he shows no signs of slowing down and even seems to be improving. A G1 victory is well within his reach. Joao Moreira will take the mount.

Namur won last year's G1 Mile Championship and narrowly missed in the G1 Dubai Turf, making her a top contender here. Although she finished eighth in the G1 Victoria Mile last time out, it was after a tough overseas campaign, and the unsuitable track conditions should be taken into account. She aims to bounce back and claim her second G1 title. Yutaka Take will be her jockey.

Other notable entries include Stella Veloce, who recovered from a tendon injury to finish fourth in the G1 Osaka Hai; Parallel Vision, who comes into the race with two consecutive wins; Elton Barows, who defeated the three-time G1 winner Songline in last year's G2 Mainichi Okan; and Romantic Warrior, a seven-time G1 winner from Hong Kong who defeated top Japanese horses and now seeks victory on Japanese soil. The race is set to start at 15:40.
