With the Takarazuka Kinen concluding last weekend, we are approaching the year's halfway point. The past six months have produced numerous memorable races and record-breaking performances. This article will focus on the sires and review the G1 races run so far at this seasonal mid-point.

This spring, progeny of Epiphaneia have been particularly dominant. Despite having many successful offspring, Epiphaneia's progeny had not secured a G1 victory since the 2021 Arima Kinen, marking a three-year drought. However, this spring, they scored an impressive four G1 wins. Stellenbosch kicked off the success by winning the Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas), followed by Ten Happy Rose causing an upset in the Victoria Mile. Danon Decile claimed the Japanese Derby, establishing himself at the top of his generation, and Blow the Horn capped it off with a victory in the Takarazuka Kinen.

Epiphaneia's progeny have shown their versatility by excelling across various distances, from mile races to Classic distances, and under different track conditions, from fast to tough conditions. With the Select Sale coming up next month, the value of Epiphaneia's progeny is expected to rise even further.

Other sires have each secured one G1 win. Rulership, a half-brother to Epiphaneia, celebrated his first G1 victory through T O Royal in the Tenno Sho (Spring), and Palace Malice, now standing in Japan, saw his first Japanese G1 winner when Jantar Mantar took the NHK Mile Cup with his imported progeny.
