Three-time G1 winner Do Deuce, who has been on a spell since finishing sixth in the Takarazuka Kinen, will run only in domestic races in the fall. He had been an intended runner in the Arc. It was also announced by owner Masaaki Matsushima, that Do Deuce will retire before the end of the year.

Matsushima said, "We will start in the G1 Tenno Sho (Autumn), and if possible, we can plan for three races, depending on his condition of course,". He revealed that he will continue the same G1 road (Tenno Sho (Autumn), Japan Cup, and Arima Kinen) route that he did in the fall as he did last year. He elaborated on his plan to retire his horse by the end of the year and encouraged his beloved horse by saying, "I wish him three more races". He will not run in the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, for which he was entered.

His main jockey, Yutaka Take, said enthusiastically, "I will do my best to win three races in a row. I am looking forward to it". His trainer Yasuo Tomomichi also commented, "The last two races were incomplete. There are only three races left, and I hope he can give a good performance like he did in the Arima Kinen last year".
