Positioned prominently after a good jump from the gates, Jack d'Or took control in Sunday's G1 Osaka Hai, holding on at the line to record a smart victory. Stars on Earth came up with a late challenge to finish second by a nose. The winning time was 1:57.4.
It was a special victory for jockey Yutaka Take who became the oldest JRA jockey to win a domestic G1 at the age of 54 years and 19 days. Speaking in the wake of his achievement, he said: "I am truly delighted. My first plan for this race was to position upfront. Jack d'Or was keen early on but he responded well as a tried to settle him. We travelled well in a good rhythm after that."
On gaining his 80th domestic G1 winner, Take added: "I've been fortunate enough to ride numerous famous horses to reach this benchmark - it's all thanks to that."
