Justin Milano, who was officially retired from racing by the Japan Racing Association on October 15, was transported to Breeders Stallion Station in Hidaka, Hokkaido, on the afternoon of the 19th to begin his new career as a stallion.
The colt is by Kizuna out of Margot Did (by Exceed And Excel) and was bred by Northern Farm in Abira. He retired with a record of three wins from four starts. Justin Milano debuted victoriously in November last year and claimed his first graded stakes win in this year's G3 Kyodo Tsushin Hai. His crowning achievement came in the G1 Satsuki Sho, where he remained unbeaten while setting a record time of 1:57.1. He finished second in the G1 Japanese Derby but was diagnosed with a tendon injury in his right foreleg in October, prompting his early retirement.
The Thoroughbred Breeders Club commented, "Although his career ended prematurely, expectations for him as a stallion are high. Since the announcement, we have received numerous inquiries. We will ensure he is well cared for and aim to make it a productive breeding season."
