Taisei Current will be looking to bounce back from a distant 15th place finish in the G1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes. Although he suffered a heavy defeat in his first race against a large field, he has great potential after finishing second in the Saudi Arabia Royal Cup. He will use this bitter experience to win his first title in the early spring race.

Taisei Current finished a disappointing 15th in the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes, his last race after finishing second in the Saudi Arabia Royal Cup. He started from the outside of the grid in his first multi-race outing. He was unable to get into a rhythm early on and only drifted towards the end.

Assistant Kakizaki, who was also in charge of G1 horse Real Steel, bit his lip and said, "We had high hopes for him, but the horse panicked in his first situation. But he still has a good back and a lot of potential". He pointed out that the horse's young career had taken its toll, but said he still had faith in his ability.

He showed no signs of fatigue after the race and has made a smooth adjustment with this race as his target. "It was good that he got out of the gate, but after that he lost his rhythm. This time we've concentrated on training him to cope with the situation," he said after a week's training on the January 3rd, when he ran 6F80.8-38.3-12.6 on the Ritto woodchip track. He was patient behind the older horses and finished well clear in the final.

Due to renovation work at Hanshin racecourse, this year's race will be held at Chukyo racecourse. Assistant Kakizaki said "It's a stage where he won on his debut. That's good". With the following wind at his back, he will win the title and move on to greater spring targets.
