Renovations on Hanshin Racecourse to begin this autumn

The Japan Racing Association (JRA) has announced that it will commence the refurbishment of Hanshin Racecourse from this autumn with the expected completion in spring 2025. The aim is to update the racecourse to align with the new era while maintaining the existing structure of the main grandstand, which was completed in 1991.

The renovation plans include various updates to create a state-of-the-art racing venue. Additionally, environmentally friendly measures will be utilized in the construction, such as repainting and reusing the indoor smart seats to reduce any environmental impact.

During the period of closure, a temporary betting facility will be set up in front of the main gate. Further details regarding the dates of the temporary closure will be announced with the release of the updated race schedule.

The overview of the refurbishment project is as follows:

Renovation of the spectator seating and the addition of private booths and group rooms: The seating width and spacing will be increased to provide a more comfortable viewing experience. Private booth-type seats and viewing rooms/box seats for group use will be newly installed.

The overhaul of several areas within the grandstand; To enhance the overall consumer experience, the layout of various spaces within the grandstand will be reconsidered. Open and comfortable food courts and luxury restrooms will be constructed.

Family zone upgrades; To ensure a memorable experience for families, the eastern area of the grandstand (1st floor), in close proximity to the the park area, will have the family dining spaces and the addition of an indoor play area and facilities for children.

Renovation of the weighing-in area: As part of the structural rejuvenation, the weighing-in area will be expanded to facilitate smoother race day procedures.
