Carrot Club announced that this year's derby horse Tastiera will target the G1 Kikuka Sho scheduled for October 22nd at Kyoto Racecourse.

In recent years, Derby winners have tended to either challenge the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe or aim for domestic G1 races, such as the Tenno Sho (Autumn) or the Japan Cup. If Tastiera participates in the Kikuka Sho, it will be the first time since Contrail that the Derby winner will contest the final colts' Classic of the year.

Currently, Tastiera is enjoying a spell at Northern Farm in Hokkaido, after a busy spring campaign. The Kikuka Sho, is final leg of the Triple Crown. The 3000 metre Classic returns to the newly renovated Kyoto Racecourse for 2023.
