A half-brother of Sodashi, the multiple G1 title holder, Kalpa went through his final training ahead of his debut race on 9th July. He will run on turf over 1800m at Hakodate Racecourse, and be partnered by jockey Yutaka Take. Kalpa recently had a training session on the Hakodate dirt track with one-time winner Alcione. Kalpa trailed behind Alcione by about one-and-a-half lengths and stayed towards the inside in the homestretch. With a smooth and impressive kick, Kalpa closed the gap to just half a length at the finish line. The recorded time was 1000m in 1:10.0, with splits of 39.7 seconds for the last 600m furlongs and 12.5 seconds for the final 200m.

Trainer Sugai commented, "Since the turf is firm, we took care of his legs and had the workout on the dirt track. He showed decent performance." Jockey Take also nodded in agreement, saying, "He will attract attention and gather popularity, but everything is in order."

Kalpa's performance in the workout and the positive evaluations from both the trainer and jockey indicate that he is well-prepared for his debut race.
