On the 11th, the second day of "Select Sale 2023" was held at Northern Horse Park in Hokkaido.

The day saw 231 horses listed for sale, which was the foal session, and 219 found successful bids. That made a clearance rate of 94.8%, for an average price of close to JPY 67.49 million. Sales totalled JPY 14.78 billion, exceeding last year's highest figure of JPY 12.8925 billion by 14.6%. In addition, the total sales for the two days combined with the foal session from the previous day recorded JPY 28,145 million, an increase of about 9.2% from last year's highest amount of JPY 25,762,500,000.

There were 35 horses that sold for more than JPY 100 million in the session, and the highest bid was "Conviction 2023", a colt foal by Contrail, which sold for JPY 520 million from North Hills.

The highlight of this year's session was Contrail's offspring, the first crop from the sire. 8 of the 20 listed horses exceeded JPY 100 million, and the total sales amounted to 2,572 million yen.

In addition, Kitasan Black's offspring, the sire who produced last year's flagship horse, Equinox, were also traded at high prices, with 6 of the 15 horses listed in the foal session exceeding 100 million yen, and the total sales amounting to JPY 1,899 million yen. The highest price was 380 million yen for "Fadillah's 2023" mentioned above.

The highest amount for a filly was the JPY 280 million spent on She's a Tiger 2023, another by Contrail. Susumu Fujita, who recorded a total purchase amount of JPY 2.369 billion at this sale, was the winning bidder.
