Seltsam, ridden by Suguru Hamanaka, won the G3 Hakodate Nisai Stakes with a fine display of speed and power on the turf at Hokkaido. Nanao drew away from the field in the home stretch but could not hold off the challenge made by Seltsam, finishing second, a length behind the winner.

Sky Canvas came home in third 3/4 length behind Nanao and the favourite of the race Belle Passion finished a disappointing eighth.

Seltsam is a son of Henny Hughes out of Rosarium, by King Kamehameha. He won his debut race on the 17th of June and this is his second win in a row and a first graded stakes success.
