Yuga Kawada rode Echt to be a comfortable winner of the G3 Kokura Kinen on Sunday. T O Sirius made an early push but was ultimately caught up by Echt, finishing two-and-a-half lengths behind the winner. Gold Eclipse came home in third and the favourite of the race Maria Elena finished fourth.

Echt is the son of Rulership out of Hela, by Deep Impact. This is his second Graded stakes victory after winning the G3 Tanabata Sho last year.
